  • Walked through the goals and agenda for our June meeting on experiments and centering marginalized communities. Reminded people to schedule their one-on-ones with Catherine and Pen if they haven’t already.
  • Added some additional invitees: Native Organizers Alliance, National LGBTQ Task Force, Demos
  • Update on renaming Wye River

  • Experiments are a way to actualize a North Star and also do analysis. When we do strategy work, we are exploring key questions and thinking about answers. Analysis only gets so far. Experiments are a way of exploring and surfacing strategic questions. Hope this connection will be clearer at our June face-to-face meeting.
  • A big part of what we’ve been doing with these last few cycles of experimentation are building are muscles for experimentation. In that vein, we did some practice together on naming assumptions and coming up with good hypotheses.
  • We talked through a little bit of what will happen at the June meeting.

  • Miles River will kick off Wye River renaming discussion next week. We’ll make decision at June Meeting.
  • We’re going to make a more conscious effort to RSVP to meetings using calendar invitation. (See Please, Please RSVP! experiment.)
  • June 4-6 meeting will start centering marginalized communities conversation (with larger conversation to be scheduled for November / December) and will also be time for making meaning of / ideating new experiments.
  • Expected time commitment for participating in Wye is 1-2 hours / week of Wye-specific stuff (e.g. attending meetings, reading materials), but it’s really 4 hours / week (e.g. integrating this work into your org, doing experiments, etc.)
